Cellular Heterogeneity: Role of Variability and Noise in Biological Decision-Making - Heidelberg, Germany
The purpose of this EMBO|EMBL Symposium is to bring together researchers across different disciplines with a shared interest in studying the origins and consequences of variability in biological systems, ranging from stochastic molecular fluctuations to emerging cell population-level phenomena. The event will take place from Wednesday April 15 - Saturday April 18, 2015 in Heidelberg, Germany.
How to Write a Scientific Grant Application? - Zurich, Switzerland
The course "How to Write a Scientific Grant Application?" will take place on April 15th, 2015 at the University of Zurich. Application Deadline is March 15, 2015. In the course participants will amongst other things be helped to get from an idea in the mind to a research question on paper, to understand the main components of a grant application or write a relevant and concise application abstract.
Chip-seq data analysis: from quality check to motif discovery and more - Lausanne, Switzerland
The SIB course "Chip-seq data analysis: from quality check to motif discovery and more - An introduction to the tools and databases of the Eurkaryotic Promoter Database (EPD) Team" will take place in Lausanne, April 27 to May 1, 2015. Participants will learn how to analyze their own or public ChIP-seq data using tools from the ChIP-seq, Signal Search Analysis (SSA) and PWMtools servers in conjunction with the Eukaryotic Promoter Database (EPD) and external regulatory bioinformatics tools.

Statistical Learning of Biological Systems from Perturbations - Monte Verita, Switzerland
This workshop will (i) explore recent advances and open problems in statistical learning, data integration, and causal inference of biological systems; (ii) present biomedical applications to recent genome-wide perturbation data, such as RNA interference data, obtained, for example, from cancer cells or cells infected by pathogens; and (iii) facilitate meaningful interaction between biomedical and quantitative researchers. Date: May 31 to June 5, 2015. Location: Conference Center Monte Verità, Ascona, Switzerland.
