Ensembl Browser Workshop, EPFL - Lausanne, Switzerland
Ensembl is a genome browser for vertebrate genomes.It annotates genes, computes multiple alignments, predicts regulatory function and collects disease data. This 1-day workshop offers participants the possibility to gain hands-on experience using the Ensembl genome browser, and also provides them with the necessary background information. The workshop will be held at EPFL on November 22, 2016.

Swiss Research Data Management Day - Lausanne, Switzerland
The management of scientific data is far from straightforward, and clear strategies are required in order to ensure that data remain accessible and understandable over time. During the Swiss Research Data Management Day, best practices will be shared by established experts to discuss the state-of-the-art in data management. Specific issues, such as data management plans, active research data management, long-term preservation, open access and the Swiss landscape within the European context will be addressed during parallel breakout sessions.
The first Swiss Research Data Management Day will take place on Tuesday November 29, 2016, from 10.00 to 17.30 at the Rolex Learning Centre at EPFL in Lausanne.

RNA-seq — From quality control to pathway analysis - Bern, Switzerland
This course is aimed at life scientists and bioinformaticians with basic knowledge of next generation sequencing who are interested in learning RNA sequencing techniques and their downstream analysis. Throughout a series of lectures and practicals, the participant will learn and practice basic RNA-seq experimental design, raw data quality control, mapping to reference genomes, identification of differentially expressed genes as well as functions for enrichment and pathway analysis using R- Bioconductor packages. The course willl take place from December 1-2, 2016 in Bern.
